	Hostel "Dom ucenika Zoc" - Beograd
		The hostel is located close to the centre of Belgrade, near the sports hall Pionir and the sports centre Tasmajdan. the building surrounded by trees is like an oasis only a ten minute walk to the heart of the city. A bakery, a supermakret, a bank, a pharmacy, a health centre, an exchange office, a national restaurant are all nearby. All 151 rooms have their own bathrooms, closets and telephones. Adjoined to the reception is a tv room in which guests can use computers and the internet free of charge. Although it is reckoned that beneath the layers of clay and sand lie undiscovered sites of earlier civilizations, it was not until the building of ‘Djuradj’s Town’, the well-known fortress in Smederevo, that it became an important point on the map of the world. In its own special way, this town preserves its beauty for future generations. Such a combination of modernity, dignity, history and business is rarely found anywhere. Smederevo is, indeed, a modern town, developed with care so that its intimacy, love, friendship and hospitality can still be felt. This town is not a slave to its modernity or commercial interests, even though it is the centre of Serbia’s metal industry. It would be more true to say that its historical origins, its central position in the country and its reliance on the River Danube give it an almost coastal look, which make a very strong impression on the visitor who finds himself among its streets. It seems that this town has a central position in any plans for the development of tourism in Serbia. This is mainly because of all the opportunities it has to offer river tourism, which is becoming increasingly popular in this part of the world. We should mention that Smederevo lies on the route Belgrade-Kostolac-Viminacijum and is thus presented in this country as a major tourist attraction. One should mention the numerous events that take place here, among which are certainly ‘Nušić’s Days, ‘Smederevo Poets’ Autumn and the annual tourist fair ‘Autumn in Smederevo’. Nor should one forget the fact that this town is the home of the all-powerful corporation: ‘U.S. Steel – Smederevo’, whose exceptionally large production draws more and more capital and investors into the town. On top of this we should mention the tourist complex ‘Jugovo’ on the banks of the Danube, as well as the Lunjevačka Forest and the famous Smederevo vineyards. In spite of being so close to Belgrade, which is situated on the Danube a mere 45 kilometres upstream, migration seems to favour Smederevo, whose population grows annually.
